CHICAGO - Behind a goal and an assist from senior forward Chris Bartley (Park Forest, Ill./Moraine Valley CC), the Saint Xavier University men's soccer team won its first Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) game of the season with a 2-0 victory over visiting Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) Tuesday at SXU Stadium in Chicago. With the win, SXU improves to 4-2 overall and 1-0 in league play. Bartley got the Cougars off on the right foot early with a break-away, unassisted goal in just the second minute of play to give Saint Xavier a 1-0 lead. With six minutes to play in the first half, freshman midfielder Agustin Herrera (Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom) gave SXU its second and final goal of the game off a pass from Bartley. ONU outshot the Cougars, 9-8, in the game. Freshman James Kline (Canton, Ohio/Perry) got the start in goal for SXU earning his first career shutout and recording six saves. Saint Xavier (4-2 overall/1-0 CCAC) heads to Michigan on Sunday, September 18, for a non-conference game against Aquinas College (Mich.). Game time is scheduled for 2 p.m. eastern time.
