CHICAGO – Former Saint Xavier University standout pitcher Scott Vachon recently signed a contract with the Traverse City Beach Bums, a professional baseball team based out of Traverse City, Mich., to continue his playing career. The Plainfield, Ill., native played the last four seasons at SXU and earned all-conference honors in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) twice during his career, first team honors in 2013 and second team recognition this past spring. Vachon, a 6-7 right-hander, led the Cougar pitching staff with a 2.24 earned run average (ERA) and 74 strikeouts in 2014.
"What an exciting opportunity for Scott and another worthy professional signing for the legacy of Cougar Baseball," said Saint Xavier University baseball coach Rocco Mossuto. "Scott is a very talented young man and the Beach Bums have picked up a quality addition to their pitching staff. I look forward to following his professional career."
