Bourbonnais, Ill. – Finishing second overall with a national qualifying time of 9:29.16, the Saint Xavier University women's outdoor track team had its 4x800 meter relay team earn a chance to compete at the 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships with its performance over the weekend at the 2014 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Championships in Bourbonnais, Ill.  Making up the relay team were junior Leslie Rosario (Fort Myers, Fla./Neosho County CC/North Fort Myers), senior Anna Galvez (Glenview, Ill./Oakton CC/Maine East), senior Jordan Wallace (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) and freshman Nicole Watkins (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett). The 2014 NAIA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships meet is scheduled for May 22-24 at Mickey Miller Blackwell Stadium in Gulf Shores, Ala.      

Some of the other highlights for SXU from the conference meet included senior Ashley Shares (Palos Park, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Stagg) taking fourth place in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:44.55 and Rosario earning a fourth-place finish in the 800-meter run at 2:19.95.  Watkins took sixth place in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:23.77, while Wallace was ninth overall in the 1500-meter run at 4:58.44.

"This is always an enjoyable meet, because we get the chance to go up against all the talented schools in our conference," said Saint Xavier University women's track coach Lisa Ebel.  "I'm thrilled that our relay team was able to turn in a national qualifying time, because they have worked really hard and deserve a chance to compete at Nationals."   

Saint Xavier wraps up the regular season portion of its outdoor schedule this weekend taking part in the Dr. Keeler Invitational hosted by North Central College in Naperville, Ill.  The meet takes place over two days on Thursday, May 8, and Friday, May 9.
