CHICAGO – Sophomore Nicole Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) claimed the 2014 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Pitcher of the Year award to highlight six Saint Xavier University softball players on the 2014 All-CCAC Softball Team when the postseason awards were released by the conference office Friday afternoon.  In addition to Nicole Nonnemacher, the Cougars also had senior pitcher Megan Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) and junior outfielder Katie Sears (Chicago, Ill./Evansville/Mother McAuley) earn first team recognition.  Senior outfielder Katie Houlihan (Tinley Park, Ill./Lincoln-Way North), junior first baseman Amanda Hainlen (Bloomington, Ill./Heartland CC/Bloomington) and sophomore second baseman Kasey Kanaga (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) were all named to the All-CCAC Softball Second Team.  

Nicole Nonnemacher leads the SXU pitching staff in several categories, including earned run average (0.36), strikeouts (249) and shutouts (16).  Megan Nonnemacher has also been tough on the mound for the Cougars all season leading the team with a win-loss record of 21-2.  She has an ERA of 1.17 and 148 strikeouts on the year.  Sears has a batting average of .356 with team-highs of 53 hits, 17 stolen bases and 34 runs scored.  Houlihan leads Saint Xavier with a batting average of .371 and also has 43 hits and 22 runs scored on the year.  Hainlen owns team-bests of nine doubles and 35 RBI as well as being a force defensively at first base with 199 putouts and 12 assists with just one error.  Kanaga has hit .346 on the season with 47 hits and 29 runs scored for the Cougars.        

Saint Xavier (43-5-1 overall/17-2-1 CCAC) advances to the winner's bracket to play No. 1 seed and No. 4 ranked Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at SXU Softball Field in Chicago.  The winner of Saturday's game will advance to the tournament championship game with no losses in the double-elimination event.
