CHICAGO - The Saint Xavier University Athletics Department held its 2014 SXU Student-Athlete Awards Banquet Wednesday evening at the Shannon Center to honor 94 student-athletes for their outstanding accomplishments in the classroom.  Student-athletes recognized have maintained at least a 3.25 cumulative grade-point average (GPA) through December 31, 2013, and each received either a bronze, silver or gold medallion as their award based on their respective GPA. In addition, senior Megan Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) and graduate student Spencer Nolen (Columbia, Tenn./University of Nevada/Columbia Central) were named the 2013-14 SXU Female and Male Student-Athletes of the Year.  Nonnemacher is majoring in elementary education and was a first team honoree on last season's Capital One Academic All-America College Division Softball Team as well as a Daktronics-Scholar-Athlete.  Nolen is working on his Masters of Business Administration (MBA) and was the SXU football team's primary kicker and punter last fall.  He led the team in scoring with 72 points (13 field goals, 33 extra-points) and was a first-team selection on the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) All-Midwest League team as well as a Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athlete.

Gold medals were awarded to student-athletes with cumulative grade-point averages between 3.75 and 4.00 (on a 4.00 scale).  Gold medal winners included:
