Milwaukee, Wis. - Junior right side Laura Gullickson (Bourbonnais, Ill./Bishop McNamara) finished with a game-high 13 kills as the Saint Xavier University volleyball team evened up its Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) record at 1-1 with a four-game match win over Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) Tuesday night in Milwaukee, Wis. The Cougars won the first game 30-24, dropped the second game 19-30, and then went on to take the third and fourth games by a score of 30-20.

Gullickson also finished with 11 digs in the match, while senior setter Traci Looby (Orland Hills, Ill./Andrew) tallied a team-high 48 assists. Senior middle blocker Tara Breshock (Lansing, Ill./TF-South) was tough as well with 12 kills. Junior outside hitter Chelsey Guay (Escanaba, Mich./Escanaba) posted a game-high four solo blocks on the defensive side, while senior libero Emily Soto (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Junior College) led SXU with 19 digs.

Saint Xavier (7-3 overall/1-1 CCAC) heads to Hastings, Neb., this weekend to participate in the Hastings College Volleyball Tournament. The Cougars open up the event with a 4 p.m. match against host Hastings on Friday, September 14.
