Rosemont, Ill. – For the second straight doubleheader, the No. 11 ranked Saint Xavier University softball team kept the opposition off the scoreboard in a doubleheader sweep of Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Roosevelt University (Ill.) Tuesday afternoon at the Ballpark in Rosemont, Ill.  The Cougars (21-3 overall/5-1 CCAC) was dominant in the opener ending the first game in five innings by a score of 15-0 and then capturing a 5-0 victory in game two.  SXU got two more impressive complete game performances from senior Megan Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) and sophomore Nicole Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) with both turning in three-hit shutouts.  The pair have now combined for 14 shutouts on the season.

The Cougars jumped all over the Lakers in Tuesday's first game scoring four runs in the top of the first inning highlighted by an RBI double from junior centerfielder Shannon Lauret (Beach Park, Ill./Zion-Benton).  A two-run single by Nicole Nonnemacher led the way to three more runs in the top of the second as SXU went ahead 7-0 early.  After scoring two more runs off an error in the top of the third, Saint Xavier really put the game away in the fourth when junior first baseman Amanda Hainlen (Bloomington, Ill./Heartland CC/Bloomington) and sophomore second baseman Kasey Kanaga (Metamora, Ill./Metamora) each recorded two RBI to spearhead a six-run frame.  Lauret was a perfect 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and two RBI.  Junior left fielder Katie Sears (Chicago, Ill./Evansville/Mother McAuley) finished with three stolen bases and four runs scored for the Cougars.  Megan Nonnemacher improved to 10-1 on the year with the win allowing just three hits and three walks with four strikeouts over five innings.

It took a little longer for the Saint Xavier offense to get warmed up in the second game, but after four scoreless frames, freshman third baseman Franchesca Graffeo (Crestwood, Ill./Shepard) and Sears came up with RBI singles in the top of the fifth to give the visitors a 2-0 lead.  An RBI double by senior catcher Ariel Hinton (Crawfordsville, Ind./Crawfordsville) in the top of the sixth highlighted a three-run frame for the Cougars and completed the game's scoring.  Nicole Nonnemacher moved her record to 9-2 this season giving up just three hits and no walks with eight strikeouts over the seven-inning affair.

Saint Xavier (21-3 overall/5-1 CCAC) continues conference play on Thursday, April 10, with a home doubleheader against Trinity Christian College (Ill.).  The first game is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
