CHICAGO - Senior Kirby Brown (West Des Moines, Iowa/Kirkwood CC/Valley) became the second Saint Xavier University golfer to earn Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Golfer of the Week honors this season when the award was announced Tuesday morning by the league office. Brown joins teammate junior Kyle Bahnick (Inverness, Ill./Carthage College/Palatine-Fremd), who was recognized on March 18.
Brown earned the accolades after shooting just three-over-par 147 over two rounds to finish in eighth place at the Blue Top Ridge Invitational hosted by Mount Mercy University (Iowa) over the weekend. Brown opened with a 73 on Saturday before recording a round of 74 on Sunday. Among 11 teams at the Invitational, SXU placed fifth. A total of 59 golfers competed in the event.
Saint Xavier is wrapping up play in the two-day NAIA Classic at Brickyard Crossing Golf Course in Indianapolis today. Due to heavy rains, the Cougars completed only 12 of the 18 holes in Monday's first round of action. SXU looks to finish up the six holes from round one and then play another 18 for round two today.
