CHICAGO – Hannah Cruz, a native of Orange County, California, has recently signed a letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic career at Saint Xavier University in Chicago as a member of the women's golf team. Cruz was a standout golfer at Woodrow Wilson Classical High School in Long Beach, California, under the guidance of head coach Jeff Evans. Cruz plans to pursue a degree in biology starting next fall at SXU.
Cruz was a three-time All-Moore League First Team selection in 2011, 2012 and 2013 and a second team selection as a freshman in 2010. She was a team captain her junior and senior seasons and her team won the Moore League all four years of her prep career. Cruz had a first place finish in the Golf Pride Girls Championship at the Navy Golf Course as well as first in the Southern California PGA Junior Tour's Buenaventura Spring Classic. She is the daughter of Al and Grace Cruz of Orange County.
"I'm very excited to have Hannah join our women's golf program," said SXU golf coach Mike Mandakas. "Hannah has had a very successful high school and junior golf career and I expect that trend to continue into her college career."
