Prescott, Ariz. – Saint Xavier University freshman Taylor Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) turned in a two-day score of 157 (78, 79) to finish in a tie for sixth place overall in the field and help lead the SXU women's golf team to a sixth-place team finish at the Embry-Riddle Spring Invite last week at Antelope Hills South Golf Course in Prescott, Ariz. The Cougars had a combined two-day team score of 759. California State University-San Marcos won the event with a two-day score of 619. It was Saint Xavier's first competition of the spring season.
Freshman Katie Reno (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) was the next finisher for the Cougars with a combined score of 175 (89, 86), good enough for a tie for 21st place. Freshman Courtney Dudgeon (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) took 27th place for SXU with a two-day total of 182 (103, 79), while freshman Ashley Anderson (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) completed the team scoring with a 34th place individual finish with a combined score of 245 (130, 115).
Saint Xavier continues its season at the end of the month taking part in the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Invite in Lockport, Ill. on March 28-29. The event takes place at the Prairie Bluff Golf Course.
