CHICAGO – Senior outside hitter Justin Cousin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) finished with 12 kills and sophomore middle blocker Sam Kull (Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South) posted a program record nine service aces to help lead the Saint Xavier University men's volleyball team to a NAIA Great Lakes Division win over Cincinnati Christian University (Ohio) on "Senior & Parent Night" Tuesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (4-12 overall/4-4 GLD) took the match in three straight sets by scores of 25-14, 25-18 and 25-15. SXU was dominant offensively racking up 37 kills to just six attacking errors for a team attack percentage of .508.
Kull also finished the match with seven kills and a pair of block assists. Freshman setter Moises Lopez (Oak Lawn, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) and senior right side hitter Jacob Siska (Hometown, Ill./Oak Lawn Community) split the setting duties Tuesday each recording 15 assists in the match. Senior middle blocker J.T. O'Connell (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice) also had a nice night for the Cougars with eight kills and two block assists.
Saint Xavier (4-12 overall/4-4 GLD) hosts Great Lakes Division foe Siena Heights University (Mich.) on Friday, March 14, for its final regular season home match. The match is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
