Joliet, Ill. - Adding to her NAIA-leading double-double total with two more such feats last week, Saint Xavier University junior forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) also added to her league-leading Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week count with her seventh such honor this season for the week ending Feb. 16 when it was announced Tuesday morning. Stuut, a two-time NAIA National Player of the Week as well, averaged 25.5 points, 14.5 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 3.0 steals per game, while shooting .528 from the field and .750 from the free throw line in the Cougars' two victories last week.
The author of 21 double-doubles on the season now, Stuut collected her first one of the week in a 90-62 victory against Robert Morris University (Ill.) on Wednesday. There, she totaled 29 points, 18 rebounds, five assists and both one block and one steal. She collected another 22 points, 11 rebounds, five steals and two assists in Saturday's 94-50 conference win versus Trinity International University (Ill.). Stuut re-established the SXU single-season rebounding record with her 29 boards for the week, giving her 364 on the year. She also ranks second in the NAIA in rebounding (13.0 rpg) and ninth in scoring (20.9 ppg).
Ranked No. 6 in the latest NAIA poll, Saint Xavier leads the CCAC North Division with a 14-2 record and is 24-4 overall. The Cougars continue their season on Wednesday, February 19, hosting their final regular season home game with a 5 p.m. game against CCAC rival Roosevelt University (Ill.) at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Prior to the game, SXU's four seniors on the roster will be recognized as part of "Senior Night."
