CHICAGO – Michael Perez, a native of Sacramento, California, has recently signed a letter of intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Saint Xavier University in Chicago as a member of the men's golf team.  Perez was a standout golfer at Christian Brothers High School in Sacramento under the guidance of head coach Kirk Purdy.  Perez plans to pursue a degree in business starting next fall at SXU.

Perez was twice named his prep team's Most Improved Player and the squad won the Capital Valley Conference during his sophomore and junior seasons.  Christian Brothers also finished as the 2013 CIF Sac-Joaquin D-II Champions.  Perez was a top-10 finisher at the 2013 USGA Public Links Qualifier in Sacramento as well as a medalist at the 2012 Northern California Golf Association Series II Tournament at Diablo Grande Golf Course in Patterson, Calif.  He is the son of Mary and John Perez of Sacramento.

"We are very excited to have Michael Perez join our men's golf program at Saint Xavier University," said SXU golf coach Mike Mandakas.  "Michael is a very talented student-athlete, who has a promising collegiate golf career ahead of him.  I can't wait to see him compete as a Cougar next season."
