CHICAGO – Extending its current win streak to 11 games, the No. 8 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team used a strong start to roll past visiting Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT), 92-42, Wednesday evening on Bob Hallberg Court at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (16-3 overall) opened the game on a 25-3 run and never trailed en route to the non-conference victory. SXU had five different players score in double figures and all 12 players that played Wednesday scored at least two points and pulled down a rebound.
Juniors Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) finished with another double-double of 11 points and 18 rebounds to go along with five assists. Junior guard Maloree Johnson (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) and junior forward Margaret Wildner (Oak Lawn, Ill./Mother McAuley) also both recorded 11 points for Saint Xavier, while sophomore forward Caitlin McMahon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) notched a double-double of 10 points and 10 rebounds. Her sister, freshman forward Meaghan McMahon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East), had a nice game as well posting 10 points, four assists and three steals.
Saint Xavier (16-3 overall/6-1 CCAC) gets back to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) play on Saturday, January 18, with a road game against Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.). The game is scheduled for a 1 p.m. tip-off in Bourbonnais, Ill.
