CHICAGO - For the third straight week, Saint Xavier University boasts the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week with junior guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) claiming the distinction for the week ending December 22 when it was announced Tuesday afternoon. Broski was a key performer in the Cougars' two convincing wins over NAIA Top-20 clubs at the Cruzin' Classic in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., averaging 19.0 points, 5.5 rebounds and 3.5 assists per game. She also shot .548 from the field converting 17 of her 31 shot attempts.
In an 88-74 win over No. 9 Oklahoma Baptist University (NAIA Division I) last Thursday, Broski totaled 17 points, six rebounds, four assists and two steals. On Friday, she authored 21 points, five rebounds, three assists and a steal in a 93-72 victory over No. 19 Briar Cliff University (Iowa). Broski ranks fifth in the league in field goal percentage (.549) and 10th in scoring (15.4 ppg). SXU, a winner of six straight games, is currently 11-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play.
Saint Xavier continues its season on Saturday, December 28, when it hosts the two-day SXU Holiday Classic. The Cougars take on Ashford University (Iowa) at 1 p.m. at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
