Joliet, Ill. - Saint Xavier University junior forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) remained red hot hauling in her third Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor this season and the second one in as many weeks for her performance in the seven-day period ending Dec. 15 when it was announced on Tuesday by the conference office. Stuut authored her eighth double-double of the season and third in as many games in a 104-69 rout of Robert Morris University (Ill.) last Saturday in Arlington Heights.
Stuut nearly made it a triple-double totaling 27 points, 13 rebounds and seven assists not to mention three steals. She also shot .588 from the field (10-of-17) and .750 from the foul line (6-of-8). The 104 points scored by the No. 8-ranked Cougars was their highest total of the season and the win put them at 9-3 overall and 4-1 in league play. Stuut boasts four top-15 rankings in the nation highlighted by her No. 2 billing in rebounds per game (12.0). She also ranks third in total rebounds (144), 12th in three-point shooting (.468) and 14th in scoring (20.3 ppg).
Saint Xavier (9-3 overall/4-1 CCAC) heads to Florida this week for a pair of games as part of the Cruzin' Classic in Fort Lauderdale. The team has challenging match-ups taking on No. 9 ranked Oklahoma Baptist University (Okla.) on Thursday, December 19, at noon eastern and then takes on No. 19 Briar Cliff University (Iowa) Friday at 11:30 a.m. eastern.
