CHICAGO - Averaging nearly 20 points and 20 rebounds per game in two conference victories last week, Saint Xavier University junior forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) has claimed her second Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor this season when it was announced by the league office Wednesday morning. She also claimed the distinction back on November 21 giving her two of the six weekly honors named over the first six weeks of the 2013-14 campaign.
Stuut averaged 18.5 points and 18.0 rebounds not to mention 3.5 assists and 3.0 blocks over the two-game span, where she played all 40 minutes of each contest. She also went 12-of-14 (.857) from the free throw line in the two wins. Stuut opened with a 17-point, 16-rebound effort in a 72-66 upset victory on the road over NAIA No. 5-ranked Roosevelt University (Ill.) on December 4, where she sank seven of her free throws in eight attempts. She also contributed two assists and two blocks that night. This past Saturday, Stuut matched her 20 points with 20 rebounds as well as registering five assists and four blocked shots in a 75-65 home win over Judson University (Ill.).
Saint Xavier, ranked No. 8 in the latest polls, is 8-3 overall and 3-1 in conference play on the season. The Cougars continue their season on Saturday, December 14, with a 1 p.m. conference road game against Robert Morris University (Ill.) in Arlington Heights, Ill.
