CHICAGO – The No. 11 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team was aided by senior guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso), who finished with 13 points and a game-high 19 rebounds, en route to an 90-67 victory over Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Judson University on Bob Hallberg Court Saturday afternoon at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  Three other players also scored in double digits as senior point guard Michael Simpson (North Chicago, Ill./Cardinal Stritch/North Chicago) had game-bests of 22 points and 11 assists,  junior guard Jack Krieger (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) finished with 15 points and sophomore forward Josh Mawhorr (Muncie, Ind./Muncie Central) had 14 points in the contest.  The Cougars shot 54 percent from the field (34-for-63) in the game.  Karp also moved up to No. 2 all-time on SXU's career scoring list surpassing Hall of Famer ('11) Mark Telander, who finished with 2,281 career points.  Karp now sits at 2,290 career points.

Things were tight early on as neither team held a lead of more than four points in the opening 15 minutes of play.  With the game tied at 29-29 at the 5:19 mark of the half, a pair of free throws by Karp gave SXU the lead and sparked an 11-2 run to close out the frame and build a 40-31 advantage at the break.  The Cougars pulled away in the second half shooting an impressive 61.8 percent from the field (21-for-34).  A jumper by Krieger put SXU up by 15, 66-51, midway through the second half and that propelled the Cougars as they put the game away on a 34-12 run.  Judson had three players reach double digits in scoring in freshman forward Adam Montsma with 17 points, freshman guard Andrew Eck and freshman center Scott Nelson, who scored 12 and 10 points, respectively.
