CHICAGO – Caroline Kuzel, a senior pitcher/outfielder at Carl Sandburg High School in Orland Park, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar softball program. The Orland Park native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2014 and compete for playing time on the field during the 2015 season.

Kuzel is the daughter of Gary and Patricia Kuzel of Orland Park.  She is currently coached by Jim Fabianski at Carl Sandburg High School.  Kuzel looks to pursue a degree in business starting next year at Saint Xavier University.  In addition to her skill sets on the softball diamond, she is also an outstanding student and a member of Mu Alpha Theta, a mathematics honor society for high schools and two-year colleges.

"Caroline will be a great addition to our pitching staff," said SXU softball coach Myra Minuskin. "She has experienced tremendous success in competitive high school and summer programs.  Caroline is athletic, versatile and has great foot speed.  We are thrilled to have her."
