Adrian, Mich. - Held to her lowest scoring output of the season with eight points in Friday's 84-67 loss to No. 16 Siena Heights University (Mich.), Saint Xavier University junior forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) responded in a big way Saturday scoring a game-high 30 points, including five three-pointers, to lead the Cougars to an 82-70 win over No. 11 Shawnee State University (Ohio) at the SHU Tournament in Adrian, Mich.  SXU led nearly the entire game after opening on a 17-4 run capped by a Stuut three-pointer at the 12:50 mark of the first half.  The Cougars (6-3 overall) took control of the game in the second half leading the entire frame and building a double-digit advantage late to secure the victory.  Following the championship game Sunday, Stuut was named to the SHU All-Tournament team.

Junior guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) was also instrumental in Saturday's win scoring 17 points and pulling down six rebounds.  Stuut was tough as well on the boards for Saint Xavier with seven rebounds on the day.  Sophomore forward Caitlin McMahon (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) led the rebounding effort with 11, including seven on the offensive end.  McMahon chipped in seven points, while senior point guard Jordan Brandt (Winamac, Ind./Winamac) posted 13 points and a pair of assists.  Despite the hot start by the Cougars, the Bears clawed their way back and tied the game late in the first half, but key shots by Stuut in the closing two minutes of the frame gave her team a one-point edge, 38-37, at the break.  SXU took control in the second half and did not let Shawnee State get closer than six points in the final five minutes of regulation.

Saint Xavier (6-3 overall/1-1 CCAC) has a couple of days to rest up before another challenging match-up.  The Cougars take on Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) rival and No. 6 ranked Roosevelt University (Ill.) in a key conference road match-up on Wednesday, December 4.  The game is scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. tip in Chicago.
