Bourbonnais, Ill. - Junior guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) scored 16 points and surpassed the 1,000 career points milestone in the process in helping the No. 9 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team pull off a 77-70 victory over Huntington University (Ind.) Friday evening at the Holiday Inn Express Classic hosted by Olivet Nazarene University at McHie Arena in Bourbonnais, Ill. Senior guard Niara Harris (Richton Park, Ill./Robert Morris/Rich South) led all scorers in the game with 18 points for the Cougars. SXU got off to a great start using an 18-4 scoring run in the first half to build a double-digit advantage early on and shot an impressive 58 percent (18-for-31) in the opening frame to take a 45-27 lead at halftime.

(Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) notched her fourth double-double of the young season with 15 points and game-best 13 rebounds for the Cougars. Broski recorded her key milestone basket midway through the first half on a jumper that gave Saint Xavier a 14-point lead. She shot a solid 8-for-16 from the field in Friday's victory. SXU was tough on the boards all night out-rebounding the Foresters, 35-29, in the game. Junior guard Courtney Baker paced Huntington with 16 points. The Cougars led by double digits for most of the game, but the Foresters were aided by 31 trips to the free throw line and 29 of their points coming from the charity stripe (93 percent).
Saint Xavier (4-2 overall/1-1 CCAC) wraps up play in the Olivet Nazarene Holiday Inn Express Classic on Saturday, November 23. The Cougars take on Mid-Continent University (Ky.) in a 1 p.m. match-up at McHie Arena in Bourbonnais.
