Joliet, Ill. - A career-best performance as part of a week in which she averaged 25.3 points, 10.3 rebounds and 3.7 assists per game has landed Saint Xavier University junior forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week honor for the seven-day period ending November 17 when it was released by the conference office late Thursday. Stuut, who earned the recognition three times last season, fell two rebounds short of posting three double-doubles in a week that saw the Cougars face two NAIA Top-20 clubs amongst their three games played.
Highlighting the week was a career-best 35-point performance in an 84-63 victory over No. 20 Grace College (Ind.) on Saturday. Stuut sank 12 of her 17 shots from the field and was perfect from the foul line (8-for-8) that day with 25 of her points coming in the opening 20 minutes of play. She also registered eight rebounds. One night earlier, she came up with 19 points and 10 rebounds in an 89-62 setback to No. 1-ranked and defending national champion Indiana Wesleyan University. Stuut opened the week with a 22-point, 13-rebound, 6-assist game against Trinity International University (Ill.) on Wednesday, November 13, when the Cougars scored an 87-46 decision. That same night, she tallied three steals and two blocks, while converting 9-of-14 field goal attempts.
Overall, Stuut shot .600 both from the field (27-of-45) and beyond the three-point arc (6-of-10) for the week and came within one free throw of being flawless from the foul line (16-of-17). SXU, ranked No. 9 in the preseason poll, is currently 3-2 on the season and 1-1 in conference play.
