CHICAGO – Junior forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) had a huge night with game-bests of 22 points, 13 rebounds and six assists as the No. 9 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team pulled away for an 87-46 victory over Trinity International University (Ill.) Wednesday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago. Prior to the game, SXU head women's basketball coach and athletic director Bob Hallberg had the Shannon Center main arena court dedicated in his honor. The Cougars shot well in their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) opener hitting 33 of their 69 shot attempts for a 48 percent clip.
Redshirt freshman guard Sidney Prasse (Naperville, Ill./Benet Academy) also had a big night for Saint Xavier hitting five three-pointers en route to a 17-point output. She also finished with a game-best four steals. Junior guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) scored in double figures as well posting 12 points on efficient 6-for-8 shooting from the floor. The Cougar defense was just as impressive as the offense with the hosts recording 17 steals and limiting the Trojans to just a 29 percent (20-for-68) shooting clip. The game was tight early on with the score knotted at 13-13 after the first six minutes of action. However, SXU used an 18-4 run over the next six minutes to pull away for good.
