Bourbonnais, Ill. – Despite a goal by sophomore forward Roger Ciszewski (Alsip, Ill./Marist) in the 11th minute of play, the No. 6 seeded Saint Xavier University men's soccer team ended its season with a 5-1 loss to No. 2 seed Olivet Nazarene University in the semifinals of the 2013 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Men's Soccer Tournament Wednesday night in Bourbonnais, Ill. The Cougars trailed 3-1 at the half and could not gain any offensive momentum after the break with the team limited to just five shots in the game. Senior keeper Kyle Held (Palatine, Ill./Palatine) finished with five saves for SXU.
Junior midfielder Brandon Simoes (Brampton, Ontario, Canada/Olivet Nazarene/St. Edmund Campion) led Saint Xavier's offensive attack with two shots, both on goal. Sophomore forward Marco Gutierrez (Stone Park, Ill./St. Joseph) recorded the assist on Ciszewski's goal. The Tigers scored their goals in the 5th, 19th, 30th, 71st and 89th minutes.
Saint Xavier ends the 2013 campaign with an overall record of 7-10-2. The Cougars finished in sixth place in the final CCAC regular season standings with a 6-4-1 mark.
