Valparaiso, Ind. – Finishing 14th overall at the 2013 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Cross Country Championships Saturday at Sunset Hills Farm County Park in Valparaiso, Ind., Saint Xavier University junior Leslie Rosario (Fort Myers, Fla./Neosho County CC/North Fort Myers) qualified for the 2013 NAIA Women's Cross Country Championships with her impressive time of 18:50.8 in the 5,000-meter (5K) race. As a team, the Cougars finished fifth out of the 11 conference squads participating at the event, the final meet of the 2013 season for SXU.
Senior Anna Galvez (Glenview, Ill./Oakton CC/Maine East) took 22nd place overall for Saint Xavier with a time of 19:41.6, while sophomore Dana Martin (Chicago, Ill./Marist) was next across the finish line for the Cougars in 23rd place at 19:42.6. Senior Jordan Wallace (Frankfort, Ill./Lincoln-Way North) came in at 24th place with a time of 19:44.5 and sophomore Ann Kolker (Naperville, Ill./St. Francis) completed the team scoring in 27th place at 19:48.6. Freshman Nicole Watkins (Bartlett, Ill./Bartlett) and senior Mercedes Mancha (Elgin, Ill./Streamwood) also turned in solid finishes for SXU in 29th (19:58.4) and 40th place (21:04.8), respectively.
Rosario now competes individually at the 2013 NAIA Women's Cross Country Championships on Saturday, November 23. This year's event is held at Rim Rock Farm in Lawrence, Kan.
