Arlington Heights, Ill. – Second-half goals by sophomore forward Lexi Cozzi (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) and freshman midfielder Delanie Bosworth (Grand Rapids, Mich./Grandville) could not offset three first-half goals by No. 20 ranked Robert Morris University as the host Eagles took down Saint Xavier University, 4-2, in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's soccer action Wednesday in Arlington Heights, Ill. The game was the regular season finale for both teams and the final game of the year for the Cougars, who failed to qualify for the seven-team CCAC Women's Soccer Tournament.
After RMU took a 3-0 lead into halftime with goals in the fourth, 14th and 45 minutes of play, Cozzi cut into the deficit in the 51st minute when she punched through a short shot from five yards deep set up by an assist from junior midfielder Monica Chavolla
(Chicago Heights, Ill./Bloom Township). In the 78th minute, Bosworth notched her first career goal as a Cougar on a redirected shot created again by a Chavolla assist. Junior Danielle Koncius
(Palos Hills, Ill./Heartland CC/Stagg) and freshman Alex Perry
(St. Louis, Mo./Oakville) split time in goal for SXU Wednesday. Koncius played the first half and recorded two saves, while Perry took over after halftime and finished with four saves.
Saint Xavier finishes its 2013 season with a 6-11-1 overall record and finished ninth in the final CCAC regular season standings at 3-8-0.
