Joliet, Ill. - Eleven blocks and 18 kills over two matches has earned Saint Xavier University junior middle hitter Marie Hackert (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial) the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week honor for the seven-day period ending November 3 when it was announced by the league office Tuesday. Hackert averaged 1.83 blocks and 3.00 kills per set in leading her team to a pair of conference victories last week. She also attacked at a .417 clip committing just three errors in 36 chances with the 18 kills.
In the three-set victory over Trinity International University last Tuesday, Hackert registered seven kills and only one error in 15 attempts, while totaling six total blocks (one solo) on defense. Two nights later in another straight-set victory over Robert Morris University, she produced 11 kills against only two errors in 21 chances to go along with five total blocks (one solo). SXU's 2-0 week put the Cougars back over .500 for the season (14-13) and one win from the .500 mark in conference play (7-8).
Saint Xavier (14-13 overall/7-8 CCAC) continues its season tonight with a road match against Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Roosevelt University (Ill.). The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Chicago.
