CHICAGO – Junior defensive specialist/outside hitter Jessica Galotta (Chicago, Ill./Parkland CC/Mother McAuley) had 10 kills and 15 digs to help lead Saint Xavier University over Trinity International University (Ill.) in Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) women's volleyball action Tuesday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago. The Cougars (13-13 overall/6-8 CCAC) took the match in three sets by scores of 25-22, 25-15 and 27-25. Sophomore middle blocker Heidi Gregerson (Park Ridge, Ill./UW-Parkside/Maine South) also played well for SXU Tuesday with 10 kills and a pair of blocks (one solo).
Junior middle hitter Marie Hackert (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial) led Saint Xavier defensively at the net with six total blocks (one solo) to go along with her seven kills on the night. Junior setter Kelli Shaffer (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) logged 28 assists, three kills, a service ace, three block assists and five digs. Junior libero Dominique Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./UIC/Mother McAuley) paced the Cougars in digs with 18 and also posted a pair of aces. Freshman defensive specialist Erica Harris (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) provided a nice lift off the bench with nine digs and three aces. SXU finished the match with a team attack percentage of .243 recording 38 kills to just 11 attacking errors. Senior middle blocker Victoria Boyd led the Trojans with 10 kills and two solo blocks.
Saint Xavier (13-13 overall/6-8 CCAC) continues conference play on Thursday, October 31, with a road match against CCAC North Division foe Robert Morris University (Ill.). The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the RMU Athletic & Convocation Center in Arlington Heights, Ill.
