Arlington Heights, Ill. – Despite 10 kills apiece by sophomore middle blocker Heidi Gregerson (Park Ridge, Ill./UW-Parkside/Maine South) and sophomore right side Meghan Falsey (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg), the Saint Xavier University volleyball team dropped its final match of the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Crossover Tournament Saturday afternoon at Robert Morris University (Ill.) in Arlington Heights, Ill. The Cougars (12-13 overall/5-8 CCAC) lost the match to Indiana University-South Bend (IUSB) in three sets by scores of 21-25, 17-25 and 20-25.
Junior middle hitter Marie Hackert (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial) had five kills and three total blocks (one solo), while junior setter Kelli Shaffer (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) recorded 27 assists, two kills and eight digs. Junior libero Dominique Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./UIC/Mother McAuley) led SXU in digs with 17. Junior defensive specialist Jessica Galotta (Chicago, Ill./Parkland CC/Mother McAuley) tallied four kills and 11 digs for the Cougars, while freshman defensive specialist Erica Harris (Chicago, Ill./Mother McAuley) was also tough defensively with 10 digs.
Saint Xavier (12-13 overall/5-8 CCAC) continues conference play on Tuesday, October 29, with a match against CCAC North Division rival Trinity International University (Ill.). The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
