CHICAGO – Finishing the match with a team attack percentage of -.103 (19 kills, 29 attacking errors), the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team struggled offensively in a road loss to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) North Division leader Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.) Tuesday night at the CSU Field House in Milwaukee, Wis. The Cougars (11-11 overall/4-6 CCAC) dropped the match in three straight sets by scores of 25-13, 25-13 and 25-17. Sophomore right side Meghan Falsey (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) led SXU with seven kills on the night.
Junior outside hitter Jessica Galotta (Chicago, Ill./Parkland CC/Mother McAuley) led the Cougars defensively scooping up eight digs, while sophomore middle blocker Heidi Gregerson (Park Ridge, Ill./UW-Parkside/Maine South) was tough at the net with a team-leading four total blocks (two solos). Junior setter Kelli Shaffer (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) had a solid all-around performance for SXU with 14 assists, three kills, two service aces and seven digs. Junior libero Dominique Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./UIC/Mother McAuley) also finished with seven digs for the Cougars.
Saint Xavier (11-11 overall/4-6 CCAC) takes part in the CCAC Crossover Tournament this weekend at Robert Morris University in Arlington Heights, Ill. The Cougars play two matches on Friday, October 25, with a 4 p.m. match against University of St. Francis (Ill.) and a 6 p.m. match against Calumet College of St. Joseph (Ind.). SXU wraps up play in the CCAC Crossover Tournament on Saturday, October 26, with a 2 p.m. match against Indiana University-South Bend (Ind.).
