CHICAGO – For the second straight game, the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team did not record a goal and it proved costly again in a 1-0 loss to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) foe Trinity International University (Ill.) Wednesday night at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago. SXU freshman keeper Alex Perry (St. Louis, Mo./Oakville) was busy throughout Wednesday's game recording 10 saves and limiting an aggressive TIU offense to just one goal on the night. With the loss, the Cougars drop to 3-7-1 on the season and 1-4-0 in conference play. The Trojans improve to 6-4-1 overall and 2-2-1 in the CCAC.
The game's lone goal came off the foot of TIU sophomore forward Samantha Yasatan in the 22nd minute of play. The goal was off a short shot from the right side and set up off an assist by sophomore midfielder Morgan Elzinga. The SXU offense finished Wednesday's game with four shots on goal.
Saint Xavier (3-7-1 overall/1-4-0 CCAC) hosts No. 19 ranked Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) on Saturday, October 12, for a CCAC match-up. The game is scheduled for an 11:30 a.m. start at Deaton Field.
