Joliet, Ill. – Saint Xavier University freshman women's golfer Taylor Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) led the field winning the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fall Invite Saturday by shooting an impressive two-day score of 157.  The Cougars had two golfers unable to compete over the weekend due to illness, so the team did not qualify for the team scoring at the Invite.  Freshman Katie Reno (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) also participated in the tournament for SXU and finished in a tie for fourth place overall with a combined score of 166.

Thompson and Reno competed against golfers from Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) teams, University of St. Francis (Ill.) and Holy Cross College (Ind.).  Thompson shot a 79 on the first round Friday to lead all competitors and then followed that up with a stellar round of 78 Saturday.  She was the only golfer in the field to break 80 either day en route to her first collegiate win.  Reno shot an 85 on Friday and an 81 Saturday.

Saint Xavier has now completed the fall portion of its schedule and starts preparing to continue its season next spring.  The Cougars plan to kick off the spring season next March.
