Homewood, Ill. - Led by a round of 74 and fifth-place individual finish by senior James Kerr (Donegal, Ireland/Western Texas/Arch Bishop Ilsley), the Saint Xavier University men's golf team finished second overall in the nine-team Trinity Christian College Troll Classic Thursday at the Calumet Country Club in Homewood, Ill. The Cougars shot a team score of 302 to finish behind only NCAA Division I Chicago State University (Ill.) with a score of 298. The event was delayed multiple times Thursday due to thunderstorms.

Seniors Kirby Brown (West Des Moines, Iowa/Kirkwood CC/Valley) finished in a tie for sixth place with a round of 75, while Brendan Ryan (Alsip, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Shepard) was just one stroke back with a score of 76, good for a tie for eighth place. Junior Kyle Bahnick (Inverness, Ill./Carthage College/Palatine-Fremd) completed the team's score with his round of 77, which placed him in a tie for 11th. SXU finished ahead of seven other Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) teams, including University of St. Francis (Ill.) in third place (308), Olivet Nazarene University in fourth place (314) and host Trinity Christian College in fifth place (317).

The Cougars take the rest of the fall and winter off from competition and will return to tournament play next March in preparation for the spring season.
