Fulton, Mo. – Senior James Kerr (Donegal, Ireland/Western Texas/Arch Bishop Ilsley) finished fifth place overall to help propel the Saint Xavier University men's golf team to a third-place team finish at the two-day William Woods University Fall Invitational at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo. Kerr turned in a two-day score of 145 (71, 74) en route to his top five individual finish. As a team, the Cougars combined for a total score of 593 with a 301 on Monday and a 292 Tuesday. Host William Woods split its team into a white squad and a green squad and claimed the top two team finishes in the seven-team event.
Senior Kirby Brown (West Des Moines, Iowa/Kirkwood CC/Valley) shot a 148 (79, 69) at the Fall Invite, while junior Kyle Bahnick (Inverness, Ill./Carthage College/Palatine-Fremd) finished with a score of 149 (73, 76). Senior Brendan Ryan (Alsip, Ill./Moraine Valley CC/Shepard) completed the team scoring for SXU with a two-day score of 151 (78, 73). Sophomore Zack Trent (Lockport, Ill./Lockport Township) had a combined score of 167 (87, 80), while freshmen Mark Kluk (Wauconda, Wis./American Military University) and Robert Lively (LaGrange, Ill./Nazareth Academy) finished with scores of 156 (79, 77) and 178 (97, 81), respectively.
Saint Xavier completes its fall season on Thursday, October 3, with the Trinity Christian College Troll Classic. The one-day event takes place at 10 a.m. at the Calumet Country Club in Homewood, Ill.
