Fulton, Mo. – In just the third tournament of the opening season of Saint Xavier University women's golf, freshman Taylor Thompson (East Galesburg, Ill./Knoxville) was impressive turning in a two-day score of 156 (81, 75) and finishing in sixth place individually in a very competitive field at the William Woods University Fall Invitational at Tanglewood Golf Course in Fulton, Mo. With only three golfers competing, the Cougars did not qualify for the team scoring at the Invite, but went up against NAIA golfers from host William Woods University, Columbia College (Mo.), Central Methodist University (Mo.) and Missouri Valley College (Mo.).
Freshman Courtney Dudgeon (Sun Prairie, Wis./Sun Prairie) shot scores of 81 both days for a combined two-day total of 162. She finished in eighth place in the field. Freshman Katie Reno (Mokena, Ill./Lincoln-Way East) also competed for SXU with a total score of 171 (86, 85).
Saint Xavier wraps up the fall portion of its season this weekend at the University of St. Francis (Ill.) Fall Classic. The two-day tournament kicks off at 9 a.m. on Friday, October 4, at Inwood Golf Course in Joliet, Ill.
