CHICAGO – Junior middle hitter Marie Hackert (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial) and sophomore middle blocker Heidi Gregerson (Park Ridge, Ill./UW-Parkside/Maine South) were forces to be reckoned with as the Saint Xavier University women's volleyball team headed out east and swept through a pair of non-conference road matches this weekend.  The Cougars took down Siena Heights University (Mich.) in four sets (25-20, 14-25, 25-17, 26-24) Friday night in Adrian, Mich.  SXU then traveled to Sylvania, Ohio, Saturday to notch a victory over Lourdes University (Ohio) in three (25-18, 25-20, 25-20).  With the wins, Saint Xavier improves to 5-6 overall this season.

In Friday's match, Hackert led the attack with 12 kills and just one attack error (.579 attack percentage).  Gregerson was solid both offensively and defensively recording eight kills and seven total blocks (two solos).  Sophomore right side Meghan Falsey (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) was key to the SXU offensive Friday with 11 kills, while junior setter Kelli Shaffer (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) helped produce the scoring surge with 38 assists to go along with her five kills and nine digs.  Junior libero Dominique Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./UIC/Mother McAuley) had a match-best 20 digs for Saint Xavier.

The Cougars carried Friday's momentum into Saturday's dominant effort against Lourdes.  Gregerson posted a match-high 13 kills as well as four total blocks (one solo).  Hackert also totaled double-digits in kills Saturday with 11.  Shaffer had another solid all-around outing with 32 assists, eight digs and two kills.  Falsey racked up eight kills and three block assists, while Aramburu led in the digs department again with 21.

Saint Xavier (5-6 overall) returns to Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) action on Tuesday, September 24, with a road match against Trinity International University (Ill.).  The match is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start in Deerfield, Ill.
