Clinton, Iowa – Junior middle hitter Marie Hackert (Evansville, Ind./Reitz Memorial) finished with a team-bests of seven kills and two block assists, but it was not enough to slow down Ashford University (Iowa) as the Saint Xavier University volleyball team fell to the host Saints in three sets (25-13, 25-14, 25-13) Tuesday night at Kehl Arena in Clinton, Iowa.  The Cougars struggled offensively totaling 16 kills in the match compared to 26 attacking errors for an attack percentage of -.122.  With the victory, Ashford improves to 5-0 on the season, while SXU falls to 0-3 overall. 

Sophomore right side Meghan Falsey (Schaumburg, Ill./Schaumburg) posted three kills and five digs on the night.  Junior setter Kelli Shaffer (Heyworth, Ill./Heyworth) recorded a team-high 13 assists to go along with seven digs, while junior defensive specialist Dominique Aramburu (Chicago, Ill./UIC/Mother McAuley) led the Cougars with nine digs.

Saint Xavier (0-3 overall) co-hosts the SXU/Trinity Christian College Crossover Classic this weekend at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The Cougars play two matches on Friday, August 30, and another pair on Saturday, August 31.  SXU takes on University of Saint Francis (Ind.) at 4 p.m. Friday to kick off the event.
