Kansas City, Mo. - Just nine months after earning the program's first-ever berth in the NAIA Women's Soccer National Championships, the Saint Xavier University women's soccer team will carry a No. 6 national ranking into the 2007 campaign after the NAIA national office recently released its annual preseason poll. The No. 6 ranking is the highest ever for the 11-year program after the Cougars notched a No. 8 ranking (its previous highest ranking) two different weeks last season.
SXU finished the 2006 season with a school-record mark of 19-4 overall and won both the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and NAIA Region VII Tournaments. SXU opens the fall slate with a home game against non-conference foe Siena Heights University (Mich.) on Thursday, August 23. The game is scheduled for a 4 p.m. start at Bruce R. Deaton Memorial Field in Chicago.Click here to see the NAIA Women's Soccer Preseason Rankings
