CHICAGO – Xavier Corona, a senior outside back at Morton East High School in Cicero, Ill., recently signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar men's soccer program. The Cicero native will be a junior at SXU in the fall of 2013 after spending the last two seasons playing for the Morton College Panthers in Cicero under head coach Juan Franco.  Corona played prep soccer for the Mustangs at Morton East High School under the direction of head coach Mike Caruso.

Corona is the son of Javier and Verenice Corona of Cicero.  In 2011, Corona was named a first team selection on the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) All-Region IV Team as a freshman defender at Morton College.  He plans to pursue a degree in criminal justice at Saint Xavier University.

"Xavier is a great addition to our roster, because he brings some qualities that you can never have too much of," said SXU men's soccer coach Ed Vucinic. "He is a hard, relentless defender, who has the ability to get forward and be dangerous in wide attack positions.  Beyond that, Xavier comes in with collegiate experience and, most importantly, a discipline and mindset that are all geared on winning."
