Joliet, Ill. – Adding three more victories to her already stellar win-loss record of 19-1 and claiming her ninth shutout of the season last week, Saint Xavier University junior right-hander Megan Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) claimed the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) Softball Pitcher of the Week honor late Tuesday when it was released by the conference office. This is the third time she has claimed the weekly honor this season with the first coming on March 19 and the second on April 16. Nonnemacher helped lead the Cougars to three of the team's six victories on the week (6-0), which included a non-conference doubleheader sweep of NCAA Division II University of Wisconsin-Parkside and four conference wins over Trinity Christian College and Purdue University-North Central (Ind.).
In three starts, Nonnemacher threw three complete games allowing just nine hits, two runs (both earned) and two walks with 23 strikeouts. Opposing batters hit just .155 against her on the week. She also had an impressive earned run average (ERA) of 0.82 on the week over 17.0 innings of work. On the year, Nonnemacher has been nearly unstoppable leading the team with an ERA of 0.79 and her nine shutouts.
Saint Xavier (37-3 overall/16-0 CCAC) is preparing for a huge conference clash with No. 16 ranked Olivet Nazarene University (Ill.) later today. The home doubleheader is scheduled for a 3 p.m. start at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
