Deerfield, Ill. – Between a barrage of big hits, including two home runs, by sophomore left fielder Holly Hilden (Belvidere, Ill./Belvidere North) and a perfect game one from junior right-hander Megan Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community), the No. 15 ranked Saint Xavier University softball team had no trouble notching two more  Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) victories in a doubleheader sweep of Trinity International University (Ill.) Thursday afternoon in Deerfield, Ill.  SXU won the first game, 14-0, in five innings with Nonnemacher recording eight strikeouts en route to her first career perfect game and then pulled away early for a 21-1 win in five innings in game two.  With the victories, the Cougars improve to 23-3 overall and a perfect 6-0 in conference play.

Saint Xavier racked up 14 hits in the opener, including four doubles, a triple and a homer.  Freshman designated hitter Nicole Nonnemacher (Bloomington, Ill./Normal Community) and junior catcher Ariel Hinton (Crawfordsville, Ind./Crawfordsville) each went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead the charge.  Nicole Nonnemacher had a pair of doubles and two RBI, while Hinton had two runs scored and a RBI.  Hilden was 2-for-4 in the game with a triple, a homer, two runs scored and three RBI.  Megan Nonnemacher improved her win-loss record to 12-1 this year with the victory on the mound.

Game two proved to be more of the same as sophomore third baseman Sarah Saunders (Burbank, Ill./Reavis) went 5-for-5 with three doubles, three runs scored and a RBI to highlight the offensive surge.  Hilden had another nice performance in the late game going 2-for-4 with a double, a homer, two run scored and four RBI; while sophomore shortstop Megan James (Oak Forest, Ill./Marist) was 3-for-4 with three runs scored.  The Cougars posted 16 hits, including five doubles and a homer, in the nightcap.  Nicole Nonnemacher earned the victory in game two throwing all five frames and giving up just one hit, one run (earned) and two walks with eight strikeouts.  She improves to 11-2 on the year with the win.

Saint Xavier (23-3 overall/6-0 CCAC) continues its season on Sunday, April 7, with a non-conference doubleheader against Ashford University (Iowa).  The first game of the home doubleheader is scheduled for a 1 p.m. start at the SXU Softball Field in Chicago.
