Men's Track & Field - Tue, May. 29, 2007
Fresno, Calif. - Saint Xavier University junior Steven Bugarin (Chicago, Ill./Washington) finished 39th overall out of 51 runners Saturday at the 2007 NAIA Outdoor Track National Championships in Fresno, Calif. Bugarin finished the 26.2-mile course with a time of 2:54:12.69 after earning a qualifying time of 1:15.15 in the Valparaiso Mini-Marathon (13.1 miles) in Valparaiso, Ind., back on April 8.

"Every marathon is a grueling event and Steven held up well," said SXU men's track coach Ed McAllister. "The race started at 6 a.m. and by the time it was over the temperature was over 90 degrees. The way that everyone started sure was different from the finish. The sun seemed to drain Steven as well as most of the field."

Last season, Bugarin qualified for the NAIA Outdoor Track National Championships in the 10,000-meter run. He finished 31st overall with a time of 34:22.04.
