Men's Cross Country - Tue, May 29, 2007
CHICAGO - Roy Witty, a senior distance runner at Marist High School in Chicago, has signed a letter of intent to continue both his athletic and academic career as a member of the Cougar men's cross country and track programs. The Mount Greenwood, Ill., native was coached by John O'Hara (boy's cross country) and Tony DeAngelis (boy's track) during his prep career at Marist High School.

Witty is the son of Roy and Beverly Witty of Mount Greenwood. He plans to pursue a degree in business next year at Saint Xavier University. SXU men's cross country/track coach Ed McAllister feels that Witty possesses the work ethic and skill to make a smooth transition to collegiate athletics.

"I believe Roy is a true ‘diamond'," said McAllister. "His acclimation to longer distances leads me to believe that he will be even better in college than he has been in high school. Roy possesses a great work ethic and will fit in well with the current Cougar squad. I expect him to make an immediate impact."
