CHICAGO – Junior outside hitter Justin Cousin (Oak Park, Ill./Oak Park-River Forest) tallied eight kills, but it was not enough against No. 5 ranked Warner University (Fla.) Thursday night at the Shannon Center in Chicago in non-conference action.  SXU fell in three sets to the visiting Royals by the scores of 25-18, 25-17 and 25-20.  The Cougars also got a nice outing from sophomore setter Dan French (Chicago, Ill./Notre Dame), who recorded 20 assists on the evening.

Freshman middle blocker Sam Kull (Darien, Ill./Downers Grove South) posted six kills against WU and also chimed in with a pair of service aces. Junior middle blocker J.T. O'Connell (Evergreen Park, Ill./Brother Rice), senior right side Nick Piccirillo (Oak Lawn, Ill./St. Rita) and Cousin all led the team with four digs on the evening.  The Royals were led by freshman outside hitter Christian Carter with 11 kills, six service aces and four total blocks (three solos).

Saint Xavier (5-16 overall/3-7 MAMVIC) travels to Sylvania, Ohio, to take on Lourdes University (Ohio) in Mid-America Men's Volleyball Intercollegiate Conference (MAMVIC) action on Friday, March 15.  The match is set for a 7 p.m. (eastern) start.
