CHICAGO – Mariana Hoerr, a senior forward/midfielder at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Louisville, Ohio, recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. The Canton, Ohio, native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2013 and compete for playing time on the field during the 2013 season. Saint Xavier University women's soccer coach Evan Strehlau is excited about the speed that Hoerr brings to the program since she was a member of Ohio's top 4x100 meter relay team at St. Thomas Aquinas High School.
Hoerr is the daughter of Jeff and Rocio Hoerr of Canton, Ohio. She is currently coached by Joe Pavlek at St. Thomas Aquinas High School. Hoerr is looking to pursue a degree in a health-focused field next year at Saint Xavier University.
"Mariana is a great signee for us," said Strehlau. "Her speed, skill and finishing touch makes her a very dangerous player. Being a part of some of the top 4x100 meter relay teams in the state of Ohio makes her speed even more dangerous. Mariana will add to our speed and finishing, which we are developing in the attack. She will be one to watch over the next four years and we can't wait to get her here in August."
