CHICAGO - Saint Xavier University seniors Ryan Quigley (Joliet, Ill./Joliet Catholic) and Ryan Buchler (Schererville, Ind./South Suburban CC) were both recently named to the 2007 NAIA All-Region VII Baseball Team when the honors were released at last week's 2007 NAIA Region VII Baseball Tournament in La Crosse, Wis. Quigley is a right-handed pitcher for the Cougars, while Buchler spent most of the 2007 season as the team's designated hitter.

Quigley had an impressive senior season this spring racking up a perfect 7-0 record on the mound over 13 appearances and 10 starts. He finished the year with a 3.75 earned-run average (ERA) and had a team-best 67 strikeouts over 74.1 innings of work. Opposing batters hit just .221 against Quigley this season. It was the second time he has earned All-Region recognition (2005) in his collegiate career. Buchler posted team-highs of 15 doubles, five triples, and 53 RBI over 51 games. He batted a team-leading .392 (71-for-181) and also finished with 36 runs scored, three home runs, and six stolen bases. Over his two-year career with the Cougars, this marked the first time Buchler received All-Region Team honors.

Saint Xavier wrapped up its 2007 season last week at the NAIA Region VII Baseball Tournament in La Crosse, Wis. The Cougars finished with an overall record of 31-21 and were first in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) with an impressive league mark of 18-2.
