Notre Dame, Ind. - Junior guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) scored 30 points hitting nine of his 13 shots from the field to lead No. 7 ranked Saint Xavier University to a commanding 110-75 road win over Holy Cross College (Ind.) in the Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) and regular season finale for both teams Saturday at McKenna Arena in Notre Dame, Ind. Senior point guard Anthony Grant (Calumet City, Ill./Prairie State CC/Thornridge) also had a big day for the Cougars netting 22 points on 9-for-12 shooting from the floor. Karp and Grant were not the only two SXU players to shoot well as the team hit 61 percent (39-for-64) of its shots for the game. Saint Xavier has secured the No. 2 seed in next week's conference tournament and will host a second round game on Wednesday, February 20.

Senior forward Dominique Harvey (Chicago, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) posted a double-double effort of 19 points and 10 rebounds, while sophomore guard Jack Krieger (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) chipped in 10 points and four rebounds. Senior point guard Roosevelt Green (Markham, Ill./Tinley Park) led the Cougars in two other key statistical categories as well finishing with nine assists and four steals. Senior guard Yama Kader led the Saints with 20 points on 8-for-14 shooting. The Cougars did an excellent job of taking care of the basketball Saturday committing just seven turnovers in the game.

A 15-4 run by SXU over the game's first four minutes gave the visitors all the momentum they needed. The Saints cut the deficit to seven points midway through the frame, but the Cougars used a 14-1 run to help build a 52-32 lead with 4:45 to play in the half. Holy Cross finished strong and cut the lead to nine, 54-45, heading into the halftime break. The second half completely belonged to SXU as Krieger hit a quick three to start the new frame and continued to build its double-digit lead throughout the half en route to its 35-point victory. The win gives the Cougars their 15th straight victory and 23 of their last 24 games. In fact, SXU has won all of its 14 games in 2013.

Saint Xavier (26-4 overall/22-2 CCAC) earns a first-round bye in next week's conference tournament by claiming the No. 2 seed. The Cougars host a second-round game on Wednesday, February 20, against the winner of Monday's first-round match-up between No. 7 seed Trinity International University (Ill.) and No. 10 seed Holy Cross College (Ind.). The second-round game takes place Wednesday at the Shannon Center in Chicago.
