CHICAGO – Gabbie Risolvato, a senior defender at Valley High School in West Des Moines, Iowa, recently signed a letter of intent to continue both her athletic and academic career at Saint Xavier University as a member of the Cougar women's soccer program. The West Des Moines native will be a freshman at SXU in the fall of 2013 and compete for playing time on the field during the 2013 season. SXU women's soccer coach Evan Strehlau loves the fact that not only is Risolvato bringing impressive credentials from the soccer field, but she is a quality student as well.
Risolvato is the daughter of Michael and Jennifer Risolvato of West Des Moines. She is currently coached by Rob Chapman at Valley High School. Risolvato is looking to pursue a degree in either psychology or communications next year at Saint Xavier University. She has played for some stellar girls soccer teams during her prep career with her high school team finishing as a state semifinalist in 2011 and her club team, West Des Moines Soccer Club, winning the Iowa State Cup from 2008-10.
"Gabbie is another Cougar player, who is going to make her presence felt on our defense," said Strehlau. "She has a wealth of high-level playing experience being part of a two-time club state cup finalist team, a three-time club state champion team and a member of the Iowa ODP (Olympic Development Program). Gabbie also brings us great academic skills as well, which we love to see in our athletes. Our coaching staff can't wait to see what she can do as a Cougar."
