CHICAGO – Notching game-bests of 27 points, 10 rebounds and three blocks, sophomore guard Jack Krieger (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North) had a game to remember leading the No. 12 ranked Saint Xavier University men's basketball team to a 94-86 Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) victory over Purdue University-Calumet (Ind.) Saturday afternoon at the Shannon Center in Chicago.  The 27-point output was a career-high mark for Krieger, who got 13 of his points off shooting a perfect 13-for-13 from the free throw line.  The Cougars (22-4 overall/18-2 CCAC) never trailed in the game after jumping out to a 15-4 lead in the first four minutes of play.  Senior point guard Roosevelt Green (Markham, Ill./Tinley Park) also had a monster game for SXU with 24 points, four assists and two steals.  Saint Xavier was blistering hot from the field to start the game shooting 56 percent (18-for-32) in the opening frame en route to 58 first-half points.

Senior point guard Anthony Grant (Calumet City, Ill./Prairie State CC/Thornridge) also scored in double figures for the Cougars Saturday finishing with 14 points as well as five rebounds and five assists.  Senior forward Dominique Harvey (Chicago, Ill./Homewood-Flossmoor) was huge off the bench recording 12 points, eight rebounds and three blocks.  Junior guard Brad Karp (Valparaiso, Ind./Valparaiso) chipped in nine points and seven rebounds.  Junior guard Roddy Richardson led the Peregrines posting a double-double effort of 20 points and 10 rebounds.    SXU led by as many as 19 points midway through the first half, 40-21, on a three-pointer by Green.  PUC cut it to four points, 46-42, with four minutes left in the first half on a trey by senior guard Kedric Williams.  However, the Cougars took control from there building a 58-48 halftime lead and keeping the advantage in double digits for most of the second half to secure the victory.

Saint Xavier (22-4 overall/18-2 CCAC) goes down to Joliet, Ill., on Wednesday, February 6, for a big conference battle with rival University of St. Francis (Ill.).  The game is scheduled for a 7 p.m. tip-off at the Sullivan Recreation Center.
