Milwaukee, Wis. - Sophomore guard Suzie Broski (Rockford, Ill./Boylan Catholic) finished with a double-double effort of 12 points and 11 rebounds to help lead the No. 12 ranked Saint Xavier University women's basketball team to a key Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference (CCAC) road victory over No. 14 ranked Cardinal Stritch University (Wis.), 67-60, Saturday afternoon at Panella Court in Milwaukee, Wis. Sophomore guard/forward Morgan Stuut (Marcellus, Mich./Three Rivers) led five Cougars who finished in double figures in scoring dropping 13 points to go along with nine rebounds and game-high five assists. With Saturday's victory, SXU wins its 11th straight game and also ends a 11-game win streak by the Wolves. It was also the first home loss (9-1) for Cardinal Stritch of the 2012-13 season.

Joining Broski and Stuut as the scoring leaders for Saint Xavier were senior point guard Romisha Taylor (Chicago, Ill./Von Stueben), junior point guard Jordan Brandt (Winamac, Ind./Winamac) and junior forward Chrissy Heine (Hampshire, Ill./Hampshire) with 10 points apiece. The Cougars were in control for most of the game never trailing by more than a point and not giving up the lead at any point in the second half. SXU used a relentless defense to help frustrate the Wolves' offense throughout the contest. Stritch shot just 39 percent (24-for-62) from the field Saturday, including 21 percent (5-for-24) from beyond the three-point arc. The shooting struggles proved to be the primary difference in the game as both teams each finished with 38 rebounds and 13 turnovers. CSU was led in scoring by junior guard Julie Raeder with 16 points on impressive 7-for-10 shooting from the floor.

Saint Xavier came out strong out of the gate jumping ahead 8-2 in the game's first five minutes with four different players each scoring a basket. The Wolves fought back and took a 12-11 lead five minutes later on a lay-up by sophomore guard Becky Gilbreath. Things stayed close for the final 10 minutes of the first half, but baskets by Heine and Brandt in the last two minutes of the frame allowed the visiting Cougars to take a four-point lead, 31-27, into the break. SXU started the second half with a bang using a 10-2 run to help build its first double-digit lead of the game, 41-29, on a jumper by Broski with 15:40 left to play in regulation. The Cougars pushed the lead to as many as 16 points midway through the frame before Stritch made its push for a rally drawing to within seven points multiple times in the final four minutes of play. However, that would be as close as it would get as big shots by Saint Xavier down the stretch, including a three-pointer by Taylor and a jumper by Broski, as well as free throws by Stuut, Heine and Brandt sealed the big road win. SXU converted 91 percent of its free throw attempts (10-for-11) in the game.

Saint Xavier (18-3 overall/13-3 CCAC) takes a brief break from its conference schedule and heads to downtown Chicago for a non-conference match-up with Robert Morris University (Ill.) on Wednesday, January 23. The game is scheduled for a 6 p.m. start at Attack Athletics in Chicago.
